Eco Fisherman´s Cottage

Voted "The best seaside villa in Europe" in The Times on Saturday 12th June 2010.

This quaint seafront cottage, situated in the authentic fishing village of Arrieta, has been restored to a high standard and features wooden floors, Canarian balcony and a fishing theme – there is even a rod supplied for guests who want to catch their own dinner. One of the original village buildings, the cottage is situated next to the slipway where local fishermen still launch their colourful, painted wooden boats into the water.

This unique cottage is next to one of the most established sea front fish restaurants in Arrieta called “Miguels”. Where you can seat on the sea front and enjoy locally caught fish or a selection of Tapas.

Our Eco Fisherman's Cottage was featured as one of the top 20 seaside stays in the travel section of The Guardian, Saturday 21 March 2009, “Classy beach cabins on Europe´s coasts”.

The cosy ground-floor living room, with its panoramic sea views, has a double sofa bed and MP3 docking station. The fitted kitchen is fully equipped with fridge-freezer, gas oven, hob and toaster, as well as a dining table and chairs. There is an outdoor shower on this level.

Outside, the spacious courtyard is ideal for al-fresco dining, perfect for a candlelit meal under the stars. From here, an external wood staircase leads up to the first-floor master suite. Luxurious, open-plan and with spectacular sea views, this light and airy room features a comfy king-size bed, wooden-surround bath, single sofa bed and separate toilet.

There are four solar panels, which make the most of the fantastic Lanzarote weather, storing the power and supplying all the electricity for the property. This quaint cottage is the perfect example of how simple – and stylish – a sustainable holiday can be.

Due to its quaint rustic ambience and superb location, this property is ideal for romantic breaks. Overlooking the ocean and with beautiful views from the bedroom, we feel that the cottage offers the perfect setting for a honeymoon couple. There is an option to book an upgrade which offers our guests: Return VIP airport transfers (includes cava on arrival), plus a bottle of Moet Champagne and chocolates at the cottage

The price per night is based on is based on upto 2 guests sharing the Eco Fishermans Cottage. For upto 4 guests, there is an extra charge of €10 per person per night. Pricing includes the local tax - IGIC at 7%. As per the price increase from 1st July 2012.

Eco Credentials

Lanzarote Retreats has ten ecological properties and we’re very proud of our green credentials. All are off the national grid, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy a sustainable holiday, experiencing first-hand what it’s like living with solar panels and using the latest renewable energy technology, which makes the most of our wonderful Lanzarote weather. You’ll be surprised at the luxury of our accommodation.

The Eco Fisherman´s cottage is located in the centre of the village of Arrieta. The Eco Retreat, Finca de Arrieta is located only a 10 minute walk from the cottage. This beautiful 30,000-metre estate is also the site of our family home. Originally farming land, it has been lovingly transformed into a rural idyll, featuring mature exotic gardens, including mango, banana, guava and lime trees, animal enclosures and a play area – all partly walled in stone found on the finca.

Guests staying at the cottage are welcome to visit Finca de Arrieta and make use of a solar-heated 10-metre lap pool and plunge pool, as well as a chill-out area with shaded Polynesian-style daybed.

“ The Fisherman's Cottage lived up to the rave press reviews. Superb location. ”

- Marion & David, February 2013, February 2013

“ We loved being so near the sea; the sound of the waves; the views; exploring the wild coast and the rural north; swimming in the big waves; being in a village with its own pace and character; eating local fish and checking out the bars and restaurants; the rustic, atmospheric charm of the cottage; the solar lights; the outdoor shower and the roomy bath; sitting by the sea wall just outside the back door, having a drink and feeling completely relaxed. It was great. Muchas gracias por nuestra visita a la casita del pescador.

“ Lying in bed listening to the sound of the sea, the view from the bath, fishing off the habour wall, jumping off the pier in to the clear water ...........perfection. Fabulous location for relaxation. ”

- fiona, December 2011

“ we have been coming to the south of lanzarote for 25 years, but this year being on our own decided to avoid the razzmatazz and opt for the more laid back holliday,we found the fisherms cottage, and the village of arrieta the perfect place to relax, good food great beach and sitting outside with our coffee letting the rest of the world go by. we would also like to thank michelle tila sally and of course barry who added the icing on the cake, thanks again and roll on the next time. colin and dulcie ”

“ The fishermans cottage was perfect for a week of relaxation and peace and quiet. we stayed at the end of July and the weather was perfect. You could easily sleep another couple downstairs without treading on anyones toes and we may have to bring friends back for our next visit!
We partook in the paella evening with the other guests at the finca and really enjoyed meeting everyone,
Arrieta is all you need for a peaceful relaxing break and a good center to explore the island further. Many thanks Lanzarote Retreats! ”

- julia and fiona, August 2011

“ We stayed at the Fisherman's cottage in May 2011. The cottage was beautifully appointed and equipped, right down to a fishing rod for catching supper (we didn't). Our daughter loved the surfing lessons, the ride in the powerboat to La Graciosa, and the beaches! ”

- Sarah Slade, June 2011

“ We have been visiting Lanzarote for 30 years and were delighted to be able to stay at the Fisherman's Cottage in Arietta - a little village we had been vistiting for years but just for lunch or for a coffee before driving up to Orzola. We love Lanzarote and consider it our "spiritual home" - it is also so beautiful. The cottage was charming and quirky and we loved showering under the sky each day and making a dash down the outside stairs in our pj's before anyone over the road spotted us!

Tila and Michelle have done a marvellous job renovating the house and it is truly authentic old Lanzarote.

Well done to them and good luck for future business.

“ My Husband and I are lucky enough to live in the South of Lanzarote and fancied a few days away 'Up North' we had seen Fishermans Cottage in Arrieta and after looking it up on the Website - were definitely intrigued!!

We had a great day in La Graciosa and loved the Powerboat - Tila and Jill had a good time too (can sunbathing really be called work!!)... they gave lots of info and recommended Restaurants in Arrieta but as the Cottage was so lovely we got as far as the local Supermarket for Wine and treats and never made a Restaurant!! although the small bar to the left of the Cottage makes great Columbian Arrepas and the main beach Bar brilliant Tapas - really enjoyed it - Thanks

“ "This is our second time staying with Lanzerotte Retreats and without doubt it’s the mixture of style, luxury, green living and warm welcome from Michelle, Tila, the kids and the donkey who all make you feel like one of the family. We had the best of both worlds splitting our 14 night break in April between the Eco Chiquitita Yurts followed by Fishermans Cottage. It really was a great combination for my husband and I. Marc likes to hop on a wave and check out the surf and I like hopping onto one of the bikes and pottering around the beaches and little shops. The free fresh eggs from the on-site chickens is the perfect way to start the day and a massage at sunset from the lovely Joy is a must. Michelle can organise for her to come to you. We both had a massage in Fishermans Cottage looking over the sea at sunset...lovely. Thanks for another great holiday. We love how you guys approach your business and life style. Luxury, Green, Friendly and refreshing – perfect. Julia Jasmin Gupta and Marc Rowedder xxxxx" ”

- Marc and Julia, June 2010

“ We stayed at the fishermans cottage between 10-17 January.Great to leave freezing cold weather in UK behind for a week. The cottage is lovely its quirkiness being its charm.Having a shower outside every morning was a great start to the day. Arrieta is a nice quiet place to stay great beach and places to eat. It was good to have the Finca close by for fresh eggs and any help needed. Lanzarote is a fantastic island to explore and easy to drive around we particulary loved our time over on La Graciosa.Michelle and Tila have done a brilliant job in offering the chance to enjoy the real Lanzarote ”

- Ron & Bev, January 2010

“ Fisherman's Cottage at New Year. An absolutely lovely, if simple, little house right by the sea. Lying in bed at night (or ocaasionaly by day)listening to the waves was fantastic as was sitting on the sea wall in the sun drinking our morning coffee. Arietta is a very nice place to stay, although it goes to bed incredibly early for Spain! It reputedly has the best fish restaraunts on the island and we saw no reason to argue - excellent value too. We were generally surpised at how atractive, interesting and in many parts unspoiled Lanzarote is. Michelle and Tila great hosts and the evening out with everyone from the Finca and our day's windsurfng were great fun. As was New Year's eve in the village square in Teguise. An excellent holiday. Thanks ”

- Nigel, Lesley, Jack & Max, January 2010

“ Absolutely fantastic stay at the Fisherman's Cottage. Couldn't of wished for more. Perfect for a relaxing break with the sound of the sea. Thanks ”
