Arrecife celebrates the annual fiesta of San Gines 2017
This week the island’s capital has been celebrating its annual fiesta in honour of Arrecife’s patron saint, San Gines, who was originally known as the Bishop of Clermont. During the 16th century he was responsible for the construction of a small hermitage, now the Church of San Gines, which is located in El Charco area of the capital.
This festival is jammed with different events and activities, most of them concentrated around El Charco area.

Thursday, August 24th
11:00 am. Special radio program “El Pejeverde”, from the Charco de San Ginés.
12:00 pm. Activities and workshops for children on El Reducto Beach.
5:00 pm. Regatta of barges, in the Charco de San Ginés.
9:00 pm. “XXIX Encuentro de Habaneras y Música del Mar Braulio de León” in Charco de San Ginés, with the performances of Amigos de Portonao, Orillas del Son, Benito Cabrera and Besay Pérez.
11:00 pm. “Verbena” in the Fairground, in charge of the Los Conejeros and Otra Clave.
Friday, August 25th
Main day of the Patronal festivities. At 11:00 am is the Solemn Eucharist.
Next, the great Procession will be celebrated in the streets of the city, with the venerated image of San Ginés Obispo, accompanied by the band.
12:00 pm. Activities and workshops for children at El Reducto Beach.
12:00 pm. Trophy presentation of the celebrations of “San Ginés 2017”, in Charco de San Ginés.
9:00 pm. Concert of the singer Rosana at El Reducto Beach.
11:00 pm. Great fireworks burning from the Arrecife Maritime Park.
11:30 pm. Verbena of parrandas with the performances of the “Parranda El Geito” and “Parranda Los Valles”, in the the Fairground.
12:00 am. Performance of the group “Jóvenes Cantadores” in the Charco de San Ginés.
Saturday, August 26th
Tournament Island of Lanzarote ITF Beachtennis tour 2017, celebrated Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of August, in El Reducto Beach, in Arrecife.
