What to expect when you book Casa Lila?
The villa has three levels and is equipped with stair gates to ensure peace of mind for guests with young children. This then leads into a bright and airy lounge which overlooks the terrace and outdoor dining area. The lounge is cosy and comfortable, furnished with modern amenities such as free WIFI, a smart TV, DVD player, and a music system. Adjacent to the lounge is a fully-equipped kitchen featuring a cooker, electric hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, and toaster. Outside, the south facing terrace offers pleasant views of the swimming pool and decked relaxation area. It also provides sun loungers, a BBQ, and solid wood furniture for enjoyable al fresco dining.
Moving to the first floor, a bright and spacious master bedroom awaits, complete with a king-size 160cm double bed, a dressing area, and a south facing balcony with views of the swimming pool and the sea. Find out more about Punta Mujeres in our Punta Mujeres travel guide.
Punta Mujeres
A sleepy little fishing village where you can totally immerse yourselves in a Canarian cultural experience far away from the main tourist areas and mostly undiscovered by tourist operators. This is a hidden gem where you encounter only the local fishermen and a few more adventurous travellers. However due to this island being so small it is still only a 40 minutes drive from the main airport and in easy reach of all Lanzarote’s other great experiences.
Here you are off the beaten track as many tourists unknowingly bypass this hidden secret as they make their way to bigger name attractions, that are still nearby, such as Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes.
The Punta Mujeres coast line is lined with natural rock pools that fill at high tide and make the most wonderful locations for a relaxed dip with the family. The main natural pool is overlooked by ‘La Pescina’ the locals favourite tapas bar that serves local wines and freshly prepared traditional tapas dishes. There are also stunning small sandy coves to be explored.
There are a surprising number of little supermarkets dotted around the village, Las Rosas – the bakery and a good selection of restaurants such as Palenke which often offers live Spanish entertainment and has a wood fired grill that produces some good food,
Many locals have built their houses as close to the sea as possible, creating small alleyways and cul-de-sacs where homes look out over the sea. One or two houses almost blend in and disappear altogether, as they are constructed of volcanic stone. There are numerous pretty terraces and balconies, painted the traditional blue that once denoted the dwelling of local fishermen.
Further along the coastline the village reveals the remnants of an old gofio mill as well as a small muelle or harbour. A further echo of Punta Mujeres sea-faring past.
Punta Mujeres benefits from a good deal more protection than other parts of the coastline, thanks to the rocky hills behind it, these were formed by old lava flows from Monte Corona, the biggest and oldest volcano on the island. With your back to the sea, Monte Corona is very visible. As is all of the badland or ‘malpais’, the lava covered land surrounding the volcano. The tunnels which form the Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes were all created by the eruptions which emanated from here.
