“The Eco Fisherman’s Cottage is unique both in its style and location, it has a special place in the hearts of so many people who keep coming back. The Times Newspaper named it ‘the best seaside villa in Europe’ and our guests there seem to all agree.”
This quaint seafront fisherman’s cottage, situated in the authentic fishing village of Arrieta, in the municipality of Haria, is a perfect location to relax and enjoy the slow pace of this charming traditional fishing village.
This cottage is said to date back to being one of the first homes in Arrieta, it features a Canaries style balcony and has a fishing theme in keeping with is surroundings.
As this holiday cottage is an important part of Arrieta’s history, Lanzarote Retreats has lovingly restored and kept original details such as its traditional Lanzarote style Canarian Courtyard. It is situated next to the slipway where local fisherman still launch their small, colourfully wood painted fishing boats. Adjacent to the cottage you can sit on the seafront and enjoy locally caught fish, or a selection of Tapas from a fantastic seafront restaurant. There are a variety of sea/beachfront restaurants all within walking distance from the cottage along with a well-stocked supermarket and a few small local shops.
The cosy ground-floor living room, with its panoramic sea views, has a double sofa bed, MP3 docking station, selection of books and free WIFI. The fitted kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, gas oven, hob and toaster, as well as a bespoke dining table and chairs.
Outside, the private spacious courtyard is ideal for cooking on the BBQ and al-fresco dining under the stars. From here, there is an outdoor shower ideal to rinse off when you return from a swim in the crystal clear waters at the cove beach or harbour, both of which are right by the cottage. Also leading from the courtyard is the convenient separate W.C. From here the courtyard leads to an external wood staircase up to the first-floor master suite. Luxurious, open-plan and with spectacular sea views, this light and airy room features a comfy king-size bed, wooden-surround sunken bath, single sofa bed and en suite WC.
This cottage’s eco credentials give you the change to live “Off Grid”. There are ten solar panels which make the most of the fantastic Lanzarote weather, storing the power and supplying all electricity for the property. Arrieta’s Eco Fisherman’s Cottage is the perfect example of how simple, stylish and sustainable holidays should be.
Due to its quaint rustic ambience and superb location, this property is ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway break or honeymoon on the seafront. Families can also holiday here, a z-bed or travel cot can be added if you require additional beds. Guests staying at the cottage are always welcome to come to the eco-village Finca De Arrieta to use the free facilities there, such as the swimming pools, play park etc. It’s just a 15-minute coastal walk or a few minutes by car.

Arrieta
The village of Arrieta has 400 inhabitants and is set in the northern municipality of Haria, the most traditional area of Lanzarote and ideal for the more independent traveller. This northern part of Lanzarote does not offer purpose-built resorts such as Costa Teguise, Puerto Del Carmen or Playa Blanca. Arrieta is a small traditional Canarian fishing village which has learnt to adapt to meet the demands of some low-key tourism. Among other things, the village offers wonderful sea front fish restaurants, a very good pizzeria take away and a supermarket. As with other villages in the north, Arrieta is peaceful, tranquil and is ideal if you are looking to be away from the neon lit bars and nightclubs found within the tourist resorts of Lanzarote.
Arrieta History
Arrieta is one of the prettiest and most authentic fishing villages to still exist in Lanzarote today. It remains unspoilt and there is a rustic charm to many of its historic houses and coastal alleyways. Eco Fishermans Cottage, set on the sea front village slipway was originally owned by local fishermen who lived there over 200 years. Each morning, you can still see local fishermen unload their catch and an early get up is rewarded by the most spectacular sun rise.
Arrieta Beach
Arrieta boasts a beautiful beach called “Playa de La Garita” which has fine golden sand and is 810m long. This beach has a restaurant and beach bar and also WC/showers, parking and play park. The waters generally remain calm throughout the year. There is also a smaller man-made golden beach which is just in front of the Eco Fisherman’s cottage. This is ideal for swimming or snorkelling.
La Garita Beach: Ideal for…….
surfing, body boarding, sunbathing, swimming, wave jumping, there are sheltered areas, child friendly and perfect for sand castles!
