Find out more about the Village of Arrieta in our Arrieta travel guide.
Arrieta
The village of Arrieta has 400 inhabitants and is set in the northern municipality of Haria, the most traditional area of Lanzarote and ideal for the more independent traveller. This northern part of Lanzarote does not offer purpose-built resorts such as Costa Teguise, Puerto Del Carmen or Playa Blanca. Arrieta is a small traditional Canarian fishing village which has learnt to adapt to meet the demands of some low-key tourism. Among other things, the village offers wonderful sea front fish restaurants, a very good pizzeria take away and a supermarket. As with other villages in the north, Arrieta is peaceful, tranquil and is ideal if you are looking to be away from the neon lit bars and nightclubs found within the tourist resorts of Lanzarote.
Arrieta is one of the prettiest and most authentic fishing villages to still exist in Lanzarote today. It remains unspoiled and there is a rustic charm to many of its historic houses and coastal alleyways.
Arrieta boasts a beautiful beach called “Playa de La Garita” which has fine golden sand and is 810m long. This beach has a restaurant and beach bar and also WC/showers, parking and play park. The waters generally remain calm throughout the year. This beach is ideal for first-time surfing, body boarding, sunbathing, swimming, wave jumping, sand castle making, sunrise spotting, fishing and dining at the beach bar or restaurant.

NathaliaStayed in Eco Casita and Eco Garden Cottage. Both lovely – we found the bed really comfy in the Garden Cottage. Eco Casita has a nicer garden area. Both are kitted out nicely. Lots to do for the children – make friends in the parks, football, pool area, feed chickens and donkeys. It’s a short walk to the beach which does cross a main road, but there’s very little traffic on the island so a little wait to cross safely made it problem free. The beaches in Arrieta are lovely, as are the little restaurants lining the shore. Amazing boutique right at the end of the street that follows the shore line, nearest the red bricked building.
Lots of extra things to book up at the Finca – yoga, kids movie night and a beautifully home cooked meal every night if it’s tricky going out with little ones. My daughter cried most of the way home as she wanted to stay to play with her friends. She now keeps asking when we can return!
This place is really geared up for families, but they are doing an adult only week in March this year. Theres so much to do on the island which doesn’t have fo be expensive. Loads of towns to wander around, great volcano action, tonnes of lovely beaches and the Cesar Manrique buildings are amazing.
We can’t wait to return and have a massive case of post holiday blues right now. Thank you to the lovely Renata for all your helpful cheery advice.
Kate DWe have just returned from a 7 night stay. I can’t recommend this place enough. When we arrived we were welcomed by champagne in the fridge, tea, coffee and snacks … Very useful ! The resort was very peaceful and relaxed and great to be off grid and rely on nature to provide electric etc … Certainly what we wanted as the big resorts often put us off. The beach at Arrieta is great and fantastic tapas to be had just by the Fisherman’s Cottage. Further north you will find some secluded beaches towards Orzola, although not great for swimming. The usual tourist attractions were interesting but can be done in a couple of days if you hire a car. A must see is El Golfo if you want to see a rugged coastline and great little restaurants away from the masses of tourists. Haria market on Fridays is also worth a visit for hand crafted items and Famara beach great for surfing/body boarding.. Lanzarote is great for a winter sun break .. You just need to choose where you go …well done Lanzarote Retreats !

Kerstin and Martial with Maёl and LucaAfter having spent almost six weeks in the Garden Cottage at the Finca we just came back to Germany a few days ago. Time was short when we left – and we therefore couldn’t leave a feedback – but we would still like to express our thankfulness. We enjoyed every single minute of our stay! Everyone was really helpful and all our needs have been fulfilled instantly. We felt save and welcomed and we especially enjoyed the peace and tranquillity and relaxed atmosphere at the Finca. You have created a real paradise and we were never tired of admiring the creativeness, beauty and thoughtfulness of even the smallest detail in the houses and yurts…
Thank you so much for your special long-term-stay-offer“, that gave us the opportunity to spend our timeout as a family at LR. We will definitely come back and recommend this place to our friends and family!
