Travesia A Nado El Rio

Congratulations to Lanzarote Retreats co-founder, Tila (pictured right) and marketing consultant Jules, who both completed the annual open water swim race between Lanzarote and the neighboring island of La Graciosa.

The race spans a 2.6 km stretch of open water between these two islands and a maximum of 700 participants of all swim levels take part. The race is accompanied by a party atmosphere from the huge numbers of family, friends and supporters who line the otherwise sleepy harbour and coastline to cheer them on.

There are several open water swim races on the island with this one forming the finale to the swim season. This race usually takes place on the last Saturday of September or first Saturday of October, registration usually opens around March.
